You can filter on up to four keywords at a time so that only the clients whose data contain any of these keywords will pass through the filter.

For example, if you want a list restricted to the clients whose data include the keyword RRSP, simply enter this keyword for one of the filter settings and leave the wildcard symbol (*) for the other three.

Inversely, you can use the symbol "!" in front of a keyword in order to find clients whose data do not contain a certain keyword. For example, entering !ELIG-ROOM as a filter setting will give you a list of all clients who do not have any RRSP contribution room available.

Keywords must be typed in exactly as they exist. Abbreviations cannot be used.

Option number

Many keywords let you select a value from a drop-down menu. By specifying an option number for a keyword in your filter, you can find only those clients having a particular keyword and drop-down choice combination. For example, to find all clients living in Quebec, you could enter the keyword Province and the option number "1". If you want to find clients with a specific keyword and any drop-down selection, use the wildcard symbol (*) for the option number.

To find the option number value for a particular drop-down choice for a given keyword, in the Data Entry, add or find the keyword, select the drop-down choice, right-click the keyword, select "Keyword properties", and note the option number from the window that appears.

This feature is fully available for 2023 and later tax years. For earlier tax years, you will still be able to specify an option number for a keyword in a filter, but that option number cannot be permanently saved, and will only be available until you restart DT Max.
